My name is Dava Spurlock. I live in Lesage, West Virginia on a farm with my parents and on the farm we raise donkeys. Additionally, I have two dogs. I enjoy outdoor activities such as fishing and jet-skiing. I enjoy working out, especially running. My favorite places to be are the beach and the classroom. I am a 3rd grade teacher at Fairland Local Schools in Proctorville, Ohio, and I will begin my second year of teaching this upcoming August.
I have earned my associates in science as well as my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (pre-K through third grade) from Ohio University. Additionally I have earned my fourth and fifth grade endorsement and a K-12 reading intervention specialist endorsement from Ohio University. I am currently enrolled in the Curriculum and Instruction Master's Program. I will be finished with my master's program at the conclusion of the 2012 first summer session.
My future career goals include earning my PhD in Higher Education after I have taken some time off from schooling. Additionally, I am involved in the 4 year Resident Educator program through the state of Ohio and I will be entering my second year in the program this upcoming school year. I plan to continue teaching 3rd grade, and eventually teach at the college level as well (evening and summer courses).
The purpose of building this Wiki is to enhance my technological capabilities through the course EDCT 501 Technology Applications in Education. Building this Wiki is a course requirement. I have had little experience with building Wikis. Through my 4th and 5th grade endorsement I developed a Wiki with a group of colleagues revolving around 4th and 5th grade Earth and Space Science standards. Some uses that I see for developing a Wiki include collaborating and keeping in contact with colleagues and using Wiki as a workspace by utilizing the organizational tools that it has available.
